Just Rest, Right

From February 2013:  Since I'm suppose to rest, guess it's time to catch up on our family blog.  Currently I'm recovering from pneumonia.  First time I've ever had this.  I have had bronchitis once.  It took some convincing my doctor it was more than just a bad cold.  I mean I waited until day 4 of my sickness with a fever up to 102 before I went to the doctor the first time.  I was given some allergy medicine and was told I didn't have the flu but a virus.  After a few more days of fevers, cough, and now a rattle at my second visit the Physician's Assistant decided I needed some antibiotics and not just the allergy medicine the doc had prescribed before.  Somehow I didn't figure the sound of pop rocks coming from my throat was a good sign, so that's what prompted my second visit.  My husband was convinced I should be wheezing if I was really sick like he's been in the past.  A few more days later and I received the results of my chest x-ray.  I had the x-ray on a Saturday so no quick results were given to me, my doc's office is very slow.  I found out Tuesday it was not bronchitis but pneumonia.  Guess I was sick after all.

Anna at 4 months. At her 4 month check up the doctor and I talked about her readiness for eating. She had been sleeping through the night, and stopped. She sits with some help. She also notices us eating. So the doctor felt she could use some food. All the boys started cereal at 4 months so Anna now is too. Now all the talk is about waiting until 6 months but she's so lightweight that seeing if giving her a little food will help is okay by me. We started with organic brown rice, and all was okay. A few days later some oatmeal and well then she decided to grumble about her tummy so after a few days and a call to the doc she got a little juice and water, and then was a happy baby.
We then moved to sweet potatoes, and then carrots, peas, and well maybe green beans next. Strange thing is with this baby girl of mine is that when it's time to eat she starts to jibber jabber through her whole meal. Not sure what she's saying but none of my four boys did this. I suppose she's more into the dining experience than just eating. It maybe a girl thing or maybe it's just an Anna thing.

It's April and now our baby girl, Anna, is 5 months old. It's been so long since I posted I'll try to fill in a little of the gaps. Anna likes to roll around, she manages to move about the room so where you leave her isn't where you come back and find her.
Jonah won his Pinewood Derby race again this year. He was short on time so no paint this year. Dad's holding his car in this picture.

Summertime in Texas

It's been awhile since I posted last so I'm just following my routine. Summer has been mostly filled with Cub Scout Day Camp for Jonah, Boy Scout Camp for Isaiah & Kirk, and a Philmont High Adventure for Nicholas & Kirk (pictured here above-Nicholas is second from left Kirk behind the group). No major trips or vacations planned this year for the entire family. Kirk & I went to Orlando, Florida for a little vacation while my Mom watched the boys here. We went one day to Disneyworld. My Mom & Dad and brother Jacob came and visited in May. That was a first since we've been here to Texas. Keri & Kaci came to visit in June (my little sister in laws) and spent some time.I finally managed to get them down to see the Alamo and experience the Riverwalk. Also made them each a purse after they picked the fabrics (Kaci's is pink n dots, and Keri's is the zebra stripe n teal).

If you haven't heard we are expecting our 5th baby in November. A baby girl around 11/11/11. We are all excited and looking forward to her coming. Here's a 4D picture of her, hand up on her head and skinny little arm & elbow showing. After looking at her privates and discovering she was a girl she wouldn't show her face the whole time we were at the ultrasound.

This year I will be attending a Scentsy Convention in Dallas, Texas in August, complements of Scentsy. They awarded me a free ticket ($200 value) to the Scentsy Stampede (Convention) at our Spring Sprint (I won a Silver Ticket) and I am so excited to go. Much to see, and learn, Scentsy giveaways, and team building. It'll be fun. I'll be with Scentsy for 3 years in August as a Consultant. I still love the scents, the safety, and having the ability to have my own business and work it how I need with my family and busy life. Well that's it for now. Keepin' it simple. --Glinda

Moved in August 2010

It's been a while since my last post. Just keeping up with tradition.

We have been a bit busy lately. We finally purchased our very own home in Texas in August 2010. When we moved to San Antonio, we decided to rent, not knowing how long it would take to sell our home in Phoenix. Fortunately it sold quickly. It took us a while to find our home, but it fit all our needs. It's got plenty of room, and it keeps the kids in their same schools and same church. And it's near the San Antonio temple too. So all the fun that comes with moving has been our experience lately. Although the "fun" seems to be dragging out painfully as the unpacking has been slow, due to our slow painting process. We are still working on the first room, the master bedroom. It's almost done. So we have most of the furniture where it's suppose to be. I can't tell you how many times I've been hunting through the garage for a box with something I need in it. I finally have my sewing machine accessable and thread. Most needed, the thread and a needle, for those Scout patches that seem to always need to be added. Jonah is our newest Cub Scout and so for his birthday he received a new cub scout shirt, a set of his own scriptures, and a special quilt that his Grandma Hill made him.
Jonah's Baptism was in September 2010. Here he is with Dad.

Here's our latest family picure.

March 2010 Beginning Spring Break

Time for Spring Break! Not much planned for this break, so far. I've managed to get the boys outside once today since it's such a nice day out to ride bikes and scooters. I've decided it's time for Thomas to have a bigger bike. He's decided he still wants training wheels. We'll see about that.

Thomas enjoyed a school field trip to the Witte Museum. He saw all the different landscapes of Texas and the animals and insects that go with them. Texas is so huge, it has costal areas, wooded areas, the hill country, and desert areas. And with all that I'm not sure if I've missed any areas besides these. I'm looking forward to seeing all the wildflowers pop up this year. The bluebonnets are huge here and since we've moved here the drought has taken a toll on them and they haven't been spectacular as usual. So I'll try to get some pictures of them when they make their grand appearance.
We had a little snow, that of course didn't stick in February. It's the first time we've been here that it actually snowed.

Thomas also had an adventure to the ER in February when he received 6 stitches above his eyebrow. Just as I was having a Scentsy Open House here at home he hit his head (I think with some help of a brother) on his metal bunkbed frame splitting open his skin. I asked Kirk about it (as he was upstairs keeping an eye on them) and there weren't any doubts that stitches were necessary. After 3 hours in the ER and a stop at McDonald's drive through he was sleeping at home, a happy guy.

And after 3 cases of strep throat later...Isaiah then Thomas (questionably Jonah who was later confirmed negative) and then on the weekend Nicholas. How is it that the child who sucks his fingers didn't get step throat? I got a call from the school nurse. Jonah had smashed his thumb in a door and the nurse wondered if I wanted to come get him and/or give him some pain medicine. After I got there and saw it, realizing it was on the hand he writes with, I knew it was time for him to come home for the day. His nailbed was filled up with blood and he had some oozing out of the side and near the base and the whole thumb was swelled up. After some debate and a call to the healthcare nurse I took him to his doctor. She removed the blood and sent him for an x-ray. After few days and another specialist visit it was finally determined it wasn't fracture but badly bruised. He's been a trooper and is healing up well. (And if I'm tired of doctor visits, copays, and Rx's you see why.)

Isaiah has enjoyed being in the 11 year old Scout program. He celebrated his birthday with a specially made cake, and a new frog, some fish and a plant for his aquarium. He has been helping with broadcasting the morning announcements at school too and likes it. He's relieved to be taking out the garbage now and having Nick unload the clean dishes, the job he's had for so long.

Nicholas has been doing track at Lopez Middle School. I've been driving him to Reagan High School for pole valting practice some days after school, as they have equipment there. He tried out the hurdles but doesn't think it's for him. We discovered he's not so flexible. (Time to stretch.) He likes doing the high jump. Oh and here's Nicholas idea of getting to have the first piece of brownie...

Kirk is enjoying his position at KCI as a marketing manager. He's keeping busy and challenged which he loves. He's also travelling more. So maybe he'll be in an area near you soon.

I'm brushing the dust off my sewing machine and serger. Finishing a project I've started long ago and looking at projects that have never been started. I'm still selling Scentsy, the wickless candles that smell so great. And I'm also trying to doing more family history for my side of the family and Kirk's.

Oh and Kirk and I will be celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary this week! Wow that sounds so long. So I've got a little planning to do...

New Year 2010

Hope you are enjoying the new year! We are doing good.

We enjoyed a visit to Phoenix at Thanksgiving and loved seeing family and friends. We were able to see many of you but not all. Hopefully we can meet up another time if we were unable to visit. And we are grateful for all the yummy meals and accomodations provided to us by our family. My Mom and Dad let us stay in their motorhome which was very nice.

Isaiah and Jonah were most unhappy to return back to Texas but eventually they got over it.

They are now settled back in and realize they have friends here too.
Special thanks to Angel for her early delivery of my newest niece, Isabella, so we could see her before we left for Texas. I think you surprised us all. What a treat! Isabella's due date was in December so we weren't thinking she'd come in time for Thanksgiving.

Christmas was nice and quiet and relaxing. Kirk was thrilled to be promoted to a Marketing Manager at KCI. He has received his Christmas wish by this promotion. Santa worked late into the night and all the boys were happy.

The boys are growing quickly. Nicholas enjoys airsoft shooting and fishing. Isaiah loves to read and play Wii and computer games. Jonah absolutely loves computer and Wii games as well. Thomas likes books, playdough and general mayhem. Jonah is reading very well now. Thomas hasn't quite got the hang of reading just yet.

I still lead music in Relief Society (women's group) at church and Kirk is working in the Young Men's organization. He is actually over the 12-13 year old boys so Nicholas is in his class. Which is fun and sometimes interesting. Nicholas just spoke at church Sunday on having a Change of Heart. He did a great job and came up with the talk all himself. We are proud of him and the great effort he put in to it.

School is in

Okay it's been months since I posted last. The boys are ALL finally in school. The transition has been a bit strange but I'm getting more use to it. I can embrace the silence now and when I can't music is good. Except the whole house speaker system that plays music has issues now and we had to pull it's plug so to speak. Nothing like being woken up in the early morning hours to a blairing radio. So now a good sound systems sounds good but it can wait. Wants and needs right?
Thomas enjoys school. He may need a little speech therapy which is no surprise to me. His "snake" sounds like "nake" and he drops his s's alot. Jonah is doing great at school this year in first grade. He's making friends and is having a much better year. He's also a good reader. Isaiah is doing very good. His teacher had nothing to say but good things. Hooray! And well Nicholas being in 7th grade now doesn't have parent teacher conferences. So many teachers and classes and all. He's doing good grade wise and just keeping up with all the projects, Bass practice and homework.
Kirk is working with the Young Men at church again. He actually works with the boys Nicholas's age, the deacons. He loves it. And I have officially been released as the Wolf Den Mom. I did enjoy working with the boys. They are a good bunch.

July

Our family has been praying for Kaci as she endures her leg lengthening surgery and for Grandpa Pinky as he goes through Chemotherapy. Strange to think of them suffering together but I imagine that right about now that is about the short of it. On a happy note Happy Birthday to Grandma Janet. We hope she has a good day!

Well this year we spent our Fourth of July running many errands in the morning. Isaiah needed shoes (his had holes in them and he didn't want to go to a store-boys) and Nicholas has finally gotten his first pair of glasses. Kirk went to Northern Tools and I had a few minutes at Joann Fabric & Craft. We spent the evening in Boerne at the church parking lot there watching Boerne's City fireworks. One of Kirk's friends from work invited us along to watch and enjoy the dessert exchange that involved 2 wards (lots of people=lots of desserts). Thomas and Jonah ran around wildly enjoying the company of the other children, while occasionally getting a sweet treat. We were impressed with the view and all the fireworks. It turned out very nice.

Afterwards we headed to a "safe zone" but this year was much tamer than last. Apparently due to fire restrictions in place the fireworks were limited to ones that could go no higher than 16 feet. It had quite an impact on the options people could buy. The boys still enjoyed sparklers and the bangs and pops. Jonah got a little sizzled by some embers but he's fine. Sure to remember to be careful around fireworks though.

Thomas and Jonah fell asleep after the Boerne City fireworks before the "safe zone" fireworks so we had to wake them up.

There were mostly sparks on the ground or hand held ones with some loud pops and bangs here and there and some screaming like things too. Occasionally we'd hear a big bang firework that would go up in the sky.

Kirk and Nicholas next to the blaze of sparklers.

Nicholas without and with his new glasses. He only needs them to see long distance and his vision isn't too bad so he doesn't have to wear them all the time so far.

Summertime Begins

Well it's officially summer break now.

Thomas looks forward to Kindergarten this Fall.
Nicholas is "employed" with an official babysitting job.
Isaiah has had his Cub Scout Day Camp.
Jonah is loving the chance to swim, do his reading and workbooks and play Wii.

We had Family Home Evening with a grandmotherly Sister from church one night. The boys enjoyed seeing all her things and brought home a puzzle to do, as she loves puzzles and wanted to share hers. They promptly set up a card table and put a puzzle together in record time. She's an awesome lady and we love to hear her talk. She has the most classic Texan accent we've ever heard and an incredible testimony of the gospel.

The boys enjoyed a fishing trip awhile back at Calaveras Lake.
It's next to a power plant so there was no intention for us
of eating anything caught there. Here are some pictures.

First here is Thomas.

Nicholas is in the red t-shirt, our biggest fishing fan.
Here is Isaiah with the orange cap casting his line.

And here is Jonah enjoying his rare chance to fish.

One little adventure this summer. Still need to plan out and embark on some more! There's a whole lot of Texas we still haven't seen. We're thinking the coast would be good to go see and the east side of Texas (we've seen the west in part and after seeing so many oil drills and tumble weeds we've had our fill).

What have we been doing?

December- Isaiah hurt his knee at school, falling onto a rock. So I get a call from the school nurse (I think she has me on speed dial), the nurse didn't know if he needed stitches. So I went to the school, and took a look. I didn't know how they'd stitch it all together and just figured, "He's going to have a scar". I took him home and kept it clean till it healed up. I've seen enough to get an idea now what is stitchable.

Christmas- Our first Christmas away from family (besides our first one in South Korea as a couple), it was quiet, slow and relaxed. We missed family but not the traveling and bustle we usually have. We also enjoyed a nice fire in the fireplace.

Valentine's Day- Jonah enjoyed and had good time in Kindergarten, Isaiah decided not to do cards (passed out kisses instead, Hershey's that is). I kept asking him about doing Valentine cards and he insisted that they weren't doing any (like his big brother Nicholas). Then I find out he wanted a box for Valentine's Day to put his stuff in. What?? I sent him to school with the chocolates because there was no time to fill out cards and I didn't even have any more. Silly. No box for him. Kirk said it was like a replay of Charlie Brown's Valentine Show.

Nicholas played basketball with YMCA in Jan and Feb, and is getting better, and is one of the tallest players.

I am still a Cub Scout Den leader (it's been one year now) and we had our Blue and Gold Banquet. Survived it. All went well. Everyone was well fed too. The boys did a little funny skit.

Lately....To buy or to rent that is the question. With these uncertain times it's not a simple task.

Layoffs and stress at Kirk's work. He's been reassigned to another team so some adjustments going on and is watching his former boss being "let go". It's sad and stressful altogether. So we continue to rent and enjoy the blessings we currently have.

Nice weather here...update....okay not anymore...this week is Spring Break. So the boys are home all week. We've had one excellent day, one good day, and a ton of rain and some sprinkles and more rain and some mist and major clouds. With forcasts of rain and more rain (which we do need but come on this week?) It would be nice to get out, to do something else besides shopping, which the boys hate of course. But we are here at home saving money by not vacationing or driving around much, and have been watching movies, playing Wii, cleaning house, eating, and cleaning up some more. Oh well, yes, fighting too.

So far no visits to the ER this week but Jonah did experience staples the other day instead of stitches. It was a Sunday not long ago. We came home from church and went to change out of our Sunday best clothes. Jonah decided to play on my elliptical machine upstairs and somehow fell off hitting his head. I heard the crying but was busy changing. And well crying doesn't necessarily get me that interested anymore. Okay so it was the blood that caught my attention. Why kids think they can wipe blood off their hands is beyond me. It wasn't a ton of blood but enough and he had a gash. It was decided he needed it stitched to lessen the scar (who knows if he'd be like Uncle Jake and be bald someday) and aid in healing so off to the Urgent Care we went. We had been before when Thomas slashed open his gums falling on the wood steps outside and exposing the tooth root (ewe, no stitches that time though). It was decided after sitting in the waiting room and sitting in the patient room that he'd have some staples put in. Three staples. Okay four but one was removed because the nurse didn't like how it went in. (Poor kid, I could tell taking it out at that point in time HURT) Anyway now that all is said and done, Jonah has a scar. I would say stitches would have been much better. The staples didn't really help put the skin together well. But since we weren't given an option and didn't know any better and I suppose the nurse person thought it wouldn't matter since his hair was covering it, and it was easier! Live and learn. I guess he will have a story to tell someday when he is older. Oh that scar there well let me tell ya... Oh and Kirk and I are wondering where we can get one of those kits ourselves. For the times when scaring isn't a big deal of course. Taking the staples out was a cinch with the handy staple remover gadget they gave us. Walgreens? He he.

My Daylight "Savings" Time Perspective

Okay so I haven't been on for awhile. I am feeling better and just catching up on lots of areas. This is one of them. Before I talk about the past I wanted to touch on the present. Coming from Arizona we struggle with this whole "Daylight Savings" Time change thing. I find it quite annoying. I prefer to wake up with the sun shining, not get up in the dark. Yes I do love the sun. My children, Thomas especially, does not think that going to bed while the sun is still shining is right. And well I do agree. I just don't get it. Those in Arizona who felt the need to get up early, like my brother David, got up early. They didn't disturb every man, woman, and child with their work schedules. So I just don't get it. Probably never will. I have struggled with the time flips every time. People who have migraines are suppose to go to bed and get up at the same time everyday to help prevent migraines. Children have to re-adjust as they are getting off to school an hour earlier. Changing the time seems wrong and is annoying. Well that's my take. I'm not sure why so many Americans put up with it but I'm glad Arizona had enough sense to just say NO! Kirk hasn't accepted yet just two things about Texas... Daylight Savings Time and rooting for the Spurs. Other than that he's really enjoying it. If you have any brilliant ideas or persuading arguments why I should whole heartedly accept changing our clock twice a year please feel free to enlighten me. I'd be curious to hear it.

Our Thanksgiving

This year was our first year with a Thanksgiving with just our immediate family. It was a bit different. I had to remind myself that it was just "us" and that we didn't need 3 different kinds of pies or tons of sides of food. I decided to make it seem a special day, I would get out the China and we would eat in the "formal" dining room. I've never had the boys eat with the fine China so that was a bit new but I wanted them to know it was a special day different from all the others. We've never eaten in the formal dining room either (it's carpeted okay). It went well without any catastrophy or horrible incidents. After a very filling meal we all settled in and watched a movie (after Kirk helped me with washing up the China of course). We had a nice and relaxing afternoon and evening. Which was a good thing because about 3 am Kirk was up and down being sick all the rest of the night and into the next day. I thought "Oh no! I've food poisioned him", but no one else in the family got sick. Poor guy. Way to spend time off work. He didn't go for any leftovers. Even the pecan pie had to be eaten up by everyone else because he couldn't touch it, and pecan pie is his favorite. Yeah, it was a different Thanksgiving this year.

And that's me over there (picture on the right) after fixing "the feast" and battling a newly coming on cold.
Happy Holidays!

Where Did the Time Go?

Wow! Am I way behind. I thought I would catch up when school started again. I was wrong. Much has been going on. As always we always have something to keep us busy.

August
Keri and Kaci came back with us to visit for a few weeks. (They are Kirk's little sisters adopted from China.) They enjoyed games, monopoly and swimming and visits to Sea World. Shopping for back to school, shoes, and looking at stuff. Some hair braiding too. When the visit was over they flew home, and we were sad.

July - August
Nick played basketball for the first time in a team with the YMCA. He really enjoyed it and learned much.

In July, Kirk enjoyed his birthday cake specially designed for him with contributing ideas from Kaci. He had a special ice cream cake, with a brownie base and a cookie dough ice cream layer, with chocolate drizzles over the top and down the sides. He loved it.

Thoughts in August...from Glinda

School... when will it start?
Is it time yet?
Time to shop for back to school?
You want how much, for what?
Do you really need that?

September
School starts, bank account shrinks… I cannot believe how much money one could spend on all the things required, requested, and recommended around here from the schools. Seriously. I have never seen so much stuff come home for every program under the sun, t-shirts, PE Uniforms, fee for this and that, donations, etc.

Cub Scout Begins again
Oh, no. I am the Cub Scout Den Mom. Around here cub scouts is cancelled all summer long, except for Day Camp. Last I knew I was called to teach the Bears but somewhere over the summer, and all of a sudden I now have the Wolves too. How can this be? Two books, two sets of achievements to accomplish. Is my head spinning? It feels like it after den meetings.

Nicholas plays Bass
The Big One. The Only One. He had thought of the violin or cello but his teacher recommended the Bass for him. Not many play it. Not all can. Did I mention it's big? After much thought and consideration Nicholas chose the Bass. There were a few perks to the Bass. The rental was from the school and was one fee, not a monthly one, so much cheaper. Also he could keep it at home. No lugging an instrument this size back and forth to school. No way. It is huge. Kirk and I have enjoyed him playing it. There are no high pitched twangs or squeals just mellow deep notes. Not sure how people could endure beginner violinists without a few headaches.

He’s in Strings II what happened to Strings I? Because of Nick's schedule he had to begin with those who had already played in Elementary school. His teacher did her best to get him to speed and he has done great. His Strings teacher awarded him with a Panther Pride award, a rare and prized honor at Lopez Middle School.

Jonah’s in Kindergarten. We didn't feel he was quite ready for first grade yet.
Isaiah is in 4th grade. He's studied Treasure Island, and now Middle Ages.
Nick's in 6th grade, Middle School already? Here in Texas 6th graders go to middle school. Lots of classes. Orchestra, PE, GT English, GT Math, Social Studies, Health, Reading, and another. Lots of homework.

Isaiah’s fish 6 neon tetras, 2 molly’s and a sucker fish (the algae eater) in a ten gallon tank.

Glinda's a Scentsy Consultant Now
I joined Scentsy in August. A friend of mine, Becky Sattler, in Idaho introduced me to Scentsy. No one around here had it, so I signed up. I liked the idea of no flames and no smoke and great scents. I rarely light candles around here with all the boys around. That would just be asking for trouble. They make so many scents, in a room spray, car candle, and wax bars to warm in a warmer or plug in. One day I had Sugar Cookie scent in the warmer when Jonah came downstairs and asked if I was making cookies. "No honey that's Scentsy", I told him. "Is that okay?" "Yeah", he said. Good, I thought I may have some trouble but had none. He was content.

Dad’s a primary teacher for the children turning 8 years old, and cub scout committee chair person.

September--It’s nice and quiet once again! Next year Tom... SCHOOL.

Oct. Nicholas turns 12, is ordained to be a deacon at church and now passes the sacrament, and attends Young Men's activities. Has a UIL competition and wins 6 ribbons. Has a cheesecake birthday cake and presents -- special thanks to Perry and Cristian (friends here), and Grandparents Hill & Smith.

Halloween! Trunk or Treat at the church parking lot one night and Trick or Treating in our neighborhood on Halloween. Below is Jonah and Thomas, I think they were tired out from so much trick-or-treating.

Jonah loses a tooth (first) and starts wearing a fingerguard to help him stop sucking his two fingers. So far it is working. We have another week to go.

Nov Another UIL (Academic Competition) for Nicholas, 2 1st places, 1 2nd place and several others...way to go Nicky Nick!
Well that's it for now. Turkeys watch out, it's time for Thanksgiving. Happy Holidays!

A Trip in July

Summer Thoughts and Adventures

It’s not so hot here!

Well San Antonio has actually been nice through the summer. It did get a little hot but a breeze here or shade from a tree does the trick and makes it pleasant. One can actually do things outside, and believe me we did. There is humidity but Phoenix gets humidity sometimes too. It’s green with flowers here and I enjoy our wilderness view every morning at breakfast and lunch.

This summer we purchased a used pop up tent that hadn’t been used in years. Kirk talked the price down, hooray! So a cleanup project was in order. Vacuuming, mopping, washing, and sewing were included in my summer activities beyond the regular routine. It was actually a nice break from the noise with all the boys home. The trailer cleaned up nice and fits our family great. Roomy enough for us all and then some. Some of the popup tents we looked at just didn’t fit our family well. Nothing like trying to get Kirk on a little bed diagonally and fit me in the leftover space.

We had Family Reunion in Williams Arizona with my side of the family. I enjoyed seeing cousins I haven’t seen in years. Thomas made new friends with Sam, Sierra, and Ethan his second cousins, and enjoyed time with all.

(Thomas is in the middle)

It was good to see family. We enjoyed seeing Grandma & Grandpa Hill and hanging out in their motor home. I haven’t used a microwave in months, and they had one. Here is their second home.

We enjoyed spending time with Jake, and seeing David and Angel and Katelyn, Joseph and Scott. I was glad to see cousins, and Aunts and Uncles. We hiked through a cave, which was definitely something we don’t do everyday and was memorable. Thanks to my Uncle Cleve a true “caver”. (Come to Texas, we have caves.)

We also enjoyed visits to family in Phoenix and some friends. Not a lot of time to see all.

Here is Nicholas (on the right) with his friends (Isaiah is behind near left). Nick was so happy to see them again. Hi guys! Isaiah missed seeing his friends, especially Bradley.

Of course we saw Janet, Pinky, Keri and Kaci. In fact Keri and Kaci came back with us to visit for a few weeks. That's another adventure itself.

(On our way to Williams AZ in New Mexico off the Texas border)
I have to say, what an incredibly long long drive we had from San Antonio, TX to Williams, AZ and then to Phoenix, and on back to San Antonio.

Kirk did all the driving. And it took it’s toll and made him sick when we got to Williams. I don’t have a lot of experience with towing or well any. We had some problems with it. Live and learn right? I think from now on we’ll keep the trailer for short trips around here and park it for the long drives. Did I mention the sway! That’s a whole other story.

Exhaustion!

17 hours to AZ plus 15 hours back to TX, border patrols, rain and winds, whew!
Saw Rockwell, NM too---Look! It’s an alien.

Well that's not our whole summer but another bit for now!
